How to add a redirect on a modern SharePoint page

You may have a situation where you need to redirect a SharePoint site to a different URL. For example, you may want to point your site visitors to a new site, a survey, or an announcement.

One easy way to do this is by using a News link.

A News link is a kind of news post that lets you link to an external web page and show it as a news item on your site.

Here is how you can create and use a News link for redirection:

1. Navigate to the SharePoint site that you want to redirect and on the top left corner click **New** > **News link**.

2. In the **Link** box, type the URL of the web page that you want to redirect to.

3. In the **Title** box, type a title for your News link. This will appear on your site as the news headline. You can also add an image, a description, and a source for your News link if you want. These will appear on your site as the news summary.

  1. Select **Post** to publish your News link.                                                                                                                                  Once you have created the redirect page, the next step is to set the redirect page as a home page so that it takes the user to the new site when they visit the site’s home page.
  1. Visit the “Site pages library” by going to by going to Site contents >> Site pages. Right click on the redirect page you created and then select “Make home page”
